Am email client that renders all your mail as jumbo jets taking off and landing at LAX.

Please watch this and see if you’re speechless for the same reasons that I am.

It will be all over the news but it’s pretty big news so going for a post.

This round goes to Microsoft. It’s a pretty small amount of money (£117m) bearing in mind the market cap (estimated at £7.3bn) but there’s clearly money to be made in those hills from ad revenue.

Plus it’s an opportunity for MS to send a signal to Google. It’s not over yet. By a long way. Or at least MS probably think that.

Linux is free. But how do you get a copy if you have a slow or non-existent internet connection?
Freedom Toaster in South Africa.

  • walk up to machine
  • open CD tray
  • put in own CD
  • Linux is then burnt to the CD
  • take it home and install

How cool is that?
And there’s also info on the site about how to make your own.

-image-Apple – we love 3rd party apps

October 23rd, 2007 by admin

Apple have decided that rather than stopping anyone else from developing for their new baby, in fact it’s a great idea.

An SDK is due to be released in Feb 2008, allowing 3rd party app development.  Apps may still require a digital signature but this would seem to be a new direction.

Blog Action Day

“On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind – the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future. Blog Action Day is about MASS participation. That means we need you!”

Podcast: Interview with Tamara Giltsoff, MD, OzozLab, Ozocar

There are 3 ways to participate create, pay or talk. I’ve created a pod cast interview with Tamara Giltsoff, facilitated by Daniele Fiandaca (Creative Social). Tamara writes for green / sustainability blog treehugger.com. Treehugger ranks 17th on Technorati and is a real destination site for these issues.

She is also MD of OZOlab.

“My passion, and goal, is to create new businesses that will rock this world and challenge the current paradigm of business practice. OZOlab is the platform for me to do this.”

OZOlab is a fascinating mash-up of eco business creation and incubation. Ozocar, a hi-tech New York limousine service using hybrid cars, is the first in a planned portfolio of businesses.

Tamara explains her motivation for ozocar and covers a range of topics including her view on Al Gore’s The inconvenient truth, how marketing and environmentalism make a perfect storm and, most uplifting for bloggers, her faith in the power of conversation.

James Cooper, on Three Minutes of Happiness, raised the question that I had on my mind :

“I have a hunch it will take more than Dave but a loose collaboration of bloggers from around the world with something to say could be the start.”

Tamara gives an inspirational view that should encourage us all to believe in the ultimate power of conversation as an engine for change.

This is not digital related, but what a great blog.

This kind of misuse of punctuation is a mystery I will never understand – it’s so baffling.

…why?

A while back there was a demo doing the rounds (from Demo) of Total Immersion adding 3D onto a live video feed. High points were a hand holding a rose and a helicopter flying out into auditorium. The immediacy and lighting was interesting but the models/animation was pretty basic.

They’ve done some work on that as well as looking at ‘real-world’ applications for the technology and were showcased on Japanese TV. Well worth a watch. At least for the audience giving huge props. Note how ALL the applications involve a mobile phone.
