Make your minds up

November 16th, 2007 by Miss Mimi

Spotted in Vauxhall, a place I have mixed emotions about having spent six years working at D&AD who are based there. Loved the work, couldn’t say goodbye to the location fast enough. This block of flats always seemed to sum it up for me, but on a recent trip I was amused to see that the local takeaway has added a new edge to the name of the building. While amusing, it only highlighted my urgency to get on the next bus out. Sorry Vauxhall, but six years was enough. It needs to get a whole lot tastier before I could be wooed back.

the landscape of design

whenever i go abroad, i have the horrible habit of looking for books that myself or friends have worked on. i know it’s wrong but when i do find one i am filled with what can only be described as glee, and if you’ve ever experienced glee you’ll appreciate why i can’t stop seeking it out.

on a recent trip away i happily skipped into a branch of borders in the soma district of san francisco where i found they have a highly specialised section – commercial art and topography – that i’m not sure anyone i know has yet written a book for.

typos can be fun. when you’ve got a deadline of yesterday and the better part of a 200 page guideline to read through, you might think otherwise. this one will probably disappear soon so i’m saving it now as i’m rather fond of it.
