Hands up who knows what these are:

Did you get it? They’re little absorbent cones that go over a baby boy’s bits when changing his nappy. Obvious isn’t it…

The Pee-pee Teepee for the Sprinkling WeeWee (I’m not making this up) is seemingly a roaring success in the USA as several friends over there have tried to convince me of their merit (do American boys pee on their mothers more than English ones I wonder). They come in a mind-bogglingly unnecessary array of patterns including camouflage and Santa hats for those joyful Christmas nappy changes. It doesn’t happen often but I’m very nearly speechless.

Apparently they make “the perfect addition to any baby shower gift”. Cheeky.

At 36 weeks pregnant and with ankles that wouldn’t look amiss on John Merrick, I’ve finally admitted that I’m not getting into any Westwood heels for the Christmas parties this year. In fact, there likely won’t be many Christmas parties for me at all. In a shoe shop earlier this week I found myself making a detailed comparison between the latest offerings from CAT and Timberland (CAT got big points for their fur lined biker boot reminding me of the old warehouse party Tank Girl days, Timberland scored with their knee high featuring corsetry lacing up the back).

As if buying all-terrain footwear wasn’t shocking enough, I bought the least attractive (by a long chalk) of two baby cradles I’ve been considering, and it was an oddly easy decision.

While I ached to have this gorgeous bit of Danish design from Leander in my house (no matter what its purpose), I’ve ended up going for this from Amby:

Why? Because all the research appears to suggest that the ugly duckling version is the better product. At least that’s the opinion I came to. Not a minute too soon I seem to have developed a mum gene. Hopefully a mum in funkster heels once I’ve got my ankles back. Which reminds me – why are most prams and buggies built for teeny, tiny people? More on that another time.

Some girls are fools for love, some crumple at the sight of a branch of Hotel Chocolat. I can’t resist a well-turned heel. Seven months pregnant or not, these saucy offerings from Nicholas Kirkwood are pure Puss ‘n Bootieliciousness and high up on the Christmas wish list. Santa can find them here.

my eye was caught this morning by a new range of beauty products illustrated by stina persson. the brand is face boutique, and the products have been specially formulated for teenage and 20something skin, containing no sulphates, parabens or petrochemicals. the packaging is biodegradable too so you can feel all-over good about your beauty routine.

while beauty products aimed at the youth market are pretty commonplace these days, face boutique have gone for a grown-up, feminine and luxe approach. and it’s only sold online and in serious beauty establishments not chemists and supermarkets. so now you can control your spotty skin without the embarrassment of using the same product as a 13 year old boy. fabulous darling.

prices range from £8-£12 for individual products in ranges of skincare, bath and hair and £22 for the body kit. available in the uk from space nk

white-stripes-lomo.jpg

the award for “damn i wish i’d thought of that” this month goes to whoever brokered the hook-up between lomo and the white stripes. it might not make either party a mind-blowing heap of money but it’s exactly that kind of honesty about the deal that makes it so much fun.

perfect partners, lomo and the white stripes both excel in being the guardians of lo-fi retro hip and vivid colour (albeit only three colours for the stripes).

both medium format cameras come in white stripe colours and have special edition extras. choose from the meg diana+ or the jack holga. guaranteed to add some giddy pizazz to the winter months ahead. lookee-here for more info
