Hip Hop Lexicon

I usually take the Q train to work from Brooklyn, today I decided to take the 5 into Manhattan, and as per usual it was crowded. A young couple no older than 21 were pushed up against me. I was listening to my tiny iPod shuffle and the next thing I heard was, “then I gave him the gas face.” I looked at the couple and gave them a polite smile. I haven’t heard anyone give someone else the gas face since I was a kid back in ’88. Is this phrase making a comeback?

Gas face is a terminology of late 80’s hip hop, it’s the look you give someone when they are saying or doing something you think is incoherent or inappropriate yo. Below is a good reference to this once used phrase back when hip hop was good party music.
