Sneakers & you, by Igor Vidal Ferreira
January 4th, 2008 by jswabyIgor Vidal Ferreira designed his own sneaker shop interior with a little help from his customers.
Sneaker lover Igor Ferreira is part of a young generation of designers whose members share a love of abstract nature and wackily ‘wired’ design. Instead of transforming an interior into something staid and conventional, the young guns push the boundaries of design towards a more informal, often ephemeral conclusion.
According to Ferreira, the idea was ‘to create a unique store that would display Adidas Originals in an innovative way. The resulting space invites shoppers to look, feel and interact.’
Skwak – a French illustrator, transformed the shop’s white walls into a storyboard of black-and-white drawings ready to be filled with colour by customers using the available markers.
It’s this spontaneous interactive element that gives Sneakers Delight its special quality, lifting it way out of the league of that place down the street, where people living in Portugal’s capital city used to buy their trainers.
