A new exhibtion at Dublin’s Science Gallery has a series of strange and interesting light shows. One of them by, Chris O’Shea , has an array of emergency beacon lights which interact with visitors, tracking their movements through the gallery. Another light exhibit somehow manages to change and adapt when you use your phone near them, different reactions for different phones. The exhibition runs at the Science Gallery until the 20th February 2009.

The Chester Beatty Library

January 27th, 2009 by dermotoshea

The Chester Beatty library is a marvelous place full of ancient prints, books and artefacts from Asia, Islam and the West based in Dublin. The collection was given to Ireland by the New York born millionaire, Chester Beatty.

Beatty was made an honorary citizen of Ireland in 1957, and on his death in 1968, he was given a state funeral – the only private citizen in Irish history to receive such an honour. He is buried in Glasnevin Cemetery.

The Chester Beatty library is a wonderful resource that is much underused. Make sure you visit it next time you’re in Dublin.Click here to view the site ›› chester.jpg
